I set a phone alarm for 29 August midnight so I wouldn’t miss the tag-a-friend entries. The 5 bonus entries for sharing to a story made me actually use Instagram stories for the first time in months. Then I checked PGA Championship ticket giveaways to see if similar contests require a UK residency. Turns out I need to claim by 2 September if I win.
Five bonus entries for an Instagram story share skews the randomness. With the draw closing at midnight on 29 August, someone tagging one friend has far worse odds than someone who posts the story and gets five extra. Tagging three friends in one Instagram comment still reads as one entry unless the rules say each tag counts—and they don’t. Also, the claim-by date is 2 September 2025, so if you’re away after the midnight Friday 29th August 2025 close you can lose it fast. I’m in the UK so this is tempting, especially the Thursday 11 September at Wentworth. Tagging a friend in each comment as an extra entry is clever—my golf buddy and I would be refreshing Instagram all week. I still write my scorecard in cursive, mostly so my dad can’t read my terrible maths, and I’ve used cursive handwriting practice sheets to keep it neat. Hope the winner actually gets to walk the fairways.
