BMW PGA Championship 2018

Francesco Molinari won the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club on Sunday 27th May with a total score of -17, beating Rory McIlroy by two shots.

On the very last hole, it looked like Rory could force a play-off but his putt was short and Molinari, after having been the runner up last year, managed to lift the trophy. Molinari only made 2 bogeys the whole competition.

I have never been to a golf championship other than the BMW PGA at Wentworth and year on year it gets more exciting and inspires me to keep playing. I was able to attend the pro am day and days 1 and 4 of the championship this year.

There is always such a buzz around the place and I love the pro am day where the professionals are a bit more relaxed. The quality of the golf is always amazing and you can walk around and see the top ranking players in the world and I often follow players I've never even heard of before and watch their technique and more importantly just their course strategy.

As well as seeing the great shots which as a beginner you hope to be able to achieve one day, it is also an opportunity to see some of the shots that don't look too dissimilar to those bad shots you currently hit! Often these shots don't make the TV but they serve as a reminder that golf is hard, even for the professionals who have been playing for years!
